This bowl of Hariwake are fantastic. Such clean platinum white and great skin quality. Utsuri pleaseA koi not seen very much this year is the Utsuri mainly Shiro Utsuri. Some great news here today as we manage to secure plenty Shiro Utsuri. Blood red KohakuOn the same tank we moved on to selecting the kohaku. Here you see a mix of Doitsu type and regular Scaled Kohaku. Beautiful bowl of koi coming to England. Goromo the fallen grapes.Often described as grape like colour the Goromo is a lovely site to see. This bunch of grapes is coming with us. Beni KikokuryuSome really nicely patterned Beni Kikokuryu. Shusui and AsagiAlthough we have purchased alot of shusui and Asagi at the previous farms we simply couldn't just leave these in the tank. Rain stop play!!!Just as we finished off in the first tank a huge storm rolled in from the sea bringing a deluge of rain. Already wet we had no choice but to continue. Whilst the rain went on we moved to some of the smaller tanks inside the packing house. In the small tanks the fish just keep coming. The quality seems to get better and better each time we move tanks. Knock knock who is there?A Tancho Goromo !! Yes you read this right we managed to get hold of the only Tancho Goromo and what a fine example it is. Kohaku bowl number 2!Anyone looking for high end Kohaku look no further Madankoi breed some unreal Kohaku both doitsu and regular scaled. Here you will also see a Doitsu Tancho Kohaku. Continuing the selecting !We continued the selection process with some slightly larger koi now . These koi measured upto 18" Who let the Kage out its cage?As we were casually picking away out popped the most beautiful Kage Showa Sanke. From this tank we then moved along to some jumbo fish. JumbosTime was pressing on a little bit so we move on over to select the jewels of the farm. The shiro Utsuri decided to pose say cheese !! A doitsu showa sanke Goshiki measuring over 55cm. A full bowl of 50 cm Kohaku :) You want bigger ?All the above koi came in at 60cm+. As we are sure you will agree they are incredible. Wait theres more ....Great way to end or trip. The Madan Koi fish were stunning as always . Thank you to Aviv and all the staff for the fantastic koi selected and prepared for our visit. All thats left is to get these fish back home. Keep checking our blog pages for updates on arrival abd when koi will be listed.
Another busy day ahead of us today. We start off bright and breezey at Madan Koi Facility. Here we went straight over to view there indoor facility where lots of there smaller koi are produced. Walking around the indoor facility we viewed the smaller koi we will purchase through out the season to fulfill our koi mixes. Walking around we have seen thousands upon thousands of koi in here. It is very clear our koi mixes are going to be top notch this year. On route back to Madans main area from the indoor facility we pass many of Madan Koi's mud ponds. Most of which are full of fish for the season. We did come across one pond which had been recently emptied and left to bake in the sun, which may well be where the fish we view today were prior our visit. Upon arrival to the packing house we headed straight to the many high quality koi prepared. The fish here are all sorted in size and quality order from tank to tank and Aviv and his team have done a great job. We only had time for a very quick look as we needed to head off to Dag Noy and we had over an hours journey to reach it. Yet again more Butterfly koi. Madan koi is offering some very unusual and unique Butterfly koi. Some of the varieties here will not be seen on any other farm. Its now time to travel to Dag Noy. Dag Noy time !On the road close to Dag Noy we pass through the local Date Farm a never ending field of Date Palms. On arrival to the farm we had a quick look round to just plan where we will start the selecting. First things first dinner time ! Its one of the favourite things when visiting Dag Noy the sandwich spread is second to none abit like the koi selection. Lets get to BuisinessIts time to start we get in the first tank. Which koi do we select first? We start selecting in this large tank full of hundreds of various varieties of koi. We found an easier way to start selecting was by variety. Sanke picking. After narrowing down the picking to choosing in varieties. So we started with selecting sanke. Dag noy has become quite famed in israel for the stunning deep red Gin rin Sankes. KohakuAfter the sankes we started picking some of the kohakus they prepared us. Just like the sanke the red is very intense and as you can see patterns and the white colouration equal to the red As you can see the quality of koi is a very high standard . GoshikiUp next the farm had a select few Goshiki which is one of the varieties specially prepared for us. Year upon year we regulary contact the farm and request certain varieties, Goshiki being one of them. Some stunning Goshiki as well as some Gin Rin Goshiki. MatsubasThe Matsuba a fish not seen too often now in such high quality. This farm still produces some of the cleanest and brightest looking Matsubas available throughout Israel. These two stunning examples came in at 24" in size fantastic fish. I think its clear to see they had a fair few to choose from. Tancho Showa sankeA couple of nice Tancho Showas hiding in the mass of koi. Doitsu Ochiba ShigureA couple of stunning Doitsu Ochiba Shigure. One of which will never see sale as its swooped up for the bosses pond for his own collection. Gin Rin ChagoiSome nice Gin Rin Chagoi measuring at 18" selected one copper red and the other two traditional Green Gin Rin Colour. SOMETHING BRAND NEW ****Exciting times for the breeder who was excited to show us his latest varieties he has produced. With no name to be given yet to this koi this would be a great addition to anyones koi pond all fish are one offs and cannot be found anywhere else. Hariwake and Yamabuki OgonsThe Lemon Hariwake. These two inparticular show there intense lemon yellow colouration and certainly would stand out in a pond of koi. In this tank we also picked some Yamabuki Ogons The favourite koi of the dayThis was the favourite koi we selected today. Absolutely glowing red Hi Utsuri. Colour so deep the fish looks artificially coloured. More Koi to wet your appetite. The fish just keep coming, more upon more stunning koi. As the day started to come to an end there is still so many koi to go through. We couldnt work fast enough. This job is never ending and it has been a very tiring day even the staff are feeling the pace The day is over and we have had a great day today. The koi prepared have been excellent and we couldnt of asked for any more. We left the breeders and there workers to finish collecting the koi we have selected. As they calculate the paper work we fear the car may not start again so we inspect alternative transport. On a serious note we would like to say a huge thank you to the staff at Dag Noy who have made this trip such a success.
Our visit to Gan ShmuelAfter numerous messages exchanged with Lior the farms breeder once again our expectations are high. Pulling up at the farm we are greeted by the guard dog. Its a lovely day again today, perfect weather for selecting koi after a quick meet and greet we get straight to buisness. We started the selecting with these stunning doitsu Mettalic Ochiba Shigure. This year the farm has worked hard to introduce some of the rarest varieties of koi. Something not seen too often now is the platinum Doitsu Kikokuryu. We are simply spoilt for choice. These Doitsu koi are absolutely amazing the skin and body shapes are as equal to there colouration. The koi just keep coming we have secured yet more beautiful koi. OgonsButterfly koi As well as the unusual varieties of koi Gan shmuel produce beautiful Butterfly koi. Having already seen a few teasing videos we had an idea of what to expect. Kin Ki Utsuri ButterflyHere are some stunning Kin Ki ursuri Butterfly we have purchased. Doitsu Sanke Butterfly koiThese fish were glowing Red absolutely fantastic quality. Shusui Butterfly koiBrand new release some Shusui Butterfly Koi. Having had few of this variety in the smaller sizes seemed quite special in 2018, but purchasing some of these in larger size is something else. Spectacular colour and skin quality many of which are the Hana Shusui type (all orange). Tancho Butterfly no way !!!!Yes you heard it right we have managed to secure a Tancho Butterfly Koi. Check this beauty out !! Kin Matsuba Butterfly KoiThis variety already showed its popularity throughout 2018 in regular finnes koi. These fish will be in high demand. Hi Utsuri Butterfly KoiAs well as the Kin Ki utsuri there is also Hi Utsuri these were not dor staying in Israel. Still hungry for more? Shiro Utsuri Butterfly koi and even a couple of Doitsu Showa butterfly. Also some Purachina and Yamabuki ogon too. The farm has gone to lots of effort on this trip and it clearly hadn't gone un noticed . Its only fair to take every fish prepared in some of the tanks :) After lunch! From 3 hours of continuous catching and buying koi it was time to have a spot of lunch. Even the guard dog was hungry. After a quick bite to eat its straight back to picking. Now we were selecting some more regular finned koi starting off with some unusual looking Asagi and Shusui. Doitsu HariwakeYet another variety of koi which is very popular. Kujaku and KohakuAfter the Hariwakes we also selected some Unique kujaku and kin kujaku and also some very well patterned Kohaku's The final tank !!It was a full tank of kikokuryu's and Doitsu Mettalic Ochiba Shigure stunning koi. Saving the best till last!Voted the favourite fish of the day this amazing Doitsu Kin Kikokuryu. With its Gun metal coloured back ground and little drips of Lemon yellow colour over the top, this koi is a true Gem. Concluding our visit we had a quick look at the outside pond while they calculated the amount of koi we purchased. A short time later they came back to us with our paperwork today we purchased 563 fish with no koi under 8" in size. Think its fair to say this has been a good visit. This is the highest volume of koi purchased at this farm to date. We would like to thank Lior and all the team at Gan Shmuel for all the magnificent koi prepared for us today. The visit went very well maybe a little too well which we learned when we got back to the hire car and it wouldnt start. As the boss of Gan shmuel hooked us up to his car to charge our battery the other staff member just simply sat and watched. Luckily it was a quick fix. And we were on our way with a bit of time to take in the beach at the hotel. Tomorrow sees us pre visit madan koi and the start selecting at Dag Noy. A great way to end a very successful day.
Waking up on this beautiful morning over looking the sea wondering what the farms will have in store for us today. Our first day sees us visiting numerous farms. Our first visit of the day is a truly mesmerizing one. All the koi this farm produce are under one big roof. This is one of the few very unique state of the art facilities which produce and rear there koi inside a huge poly tunnel type building. Keeping and rearing koi in this way gives this farm a big advantage over the traditional fish farming methods. From egg to adult sizes the fishes development is monitored continuously to maximise both growth and quality. Having this advantage cuts out the optimisum of what a breeder may take out of his mud pond. Entering the koi facility we walked straight over to a tank of larger koi prepared to show the quality the farm has available. First we start on the smaller koi. At this farm is where the bulk of our grow on koi are purchased. Each koi we will purchase will be carfully hand selected. Before we start we were given a guided tour with one of the koi coniseurs and were shown a few upcoming projects. The quantity of high quality koi available is unbelieveable. Here we filled our boots managing to get hold of some really special koi to add to our grow on koi section even the breeders had to get involved to help us. This was a massive task in its self selecting through thousands of high quality koi. The koi team have done a magnificent job. Next comes the larger koi :)After methodically selecting through the farms thousands of smaller koi we moved across to some larger sized jewels. With the massive help from the farmers who brought the koi towards us and contained them into a smaller section we started our picking. Anyone for a Beni kumonryu ?We kicked of the selection process with these absolute jewels. This seems to be a variety this particular farm specialise in. The ruby red colouring against the immense black makes this fish super unique. Yet another rare variety raises its head. Here you can see some doitsu Ochiba Shigure showing there best autumn colouration. Also as we selected we found some stunning Goshiki. New koi variety Alert!!!One of the koi we have long searched for in larger sizes both Ki Utsuri and Midorigoi. These were not even considered upon first sight we purchased them straight away. Concluding our buying on this koi, Tancho Beni Kikokuryu. This farm has gone above and beyond for us today and it has been a huge pleasure to visit and releive there fish stock slightly. After a busy morning we have worked up an appetite. We stop off at the local sandwich place on the grounds of Hazorea. Next up Koi Kin (Butterfly Koi)As mentioned a few weeks ago this is a particulary interesting to us. We visit this farm with great hope and anticipation on what Butterfly Koi will be available to us. Once again straight away walking through the doors of the koi facility we are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of butterfly koi available. This visit is very exciting for us as we venture into something quite new to our web page. This year we are planning to be able to offer very High quality Butterfly koi in all sizes. Now down to the selection time. Given the limited space on this farm they are un able to allow us to select individually. However working very closely with the breeder we have narrowed down some of the varieties and styles of Butterfly koi we are looking for. The Butterfly koi here are something else. Some of the butterfly Koi seen on this farm are not available any where else in the world. These are truly unique to this farm and they are certainly masters at producing these koi. Watching the breeder select for us has turned out perfect as we watch him select koi after koi we would swlect ourselves. The Butterfly koi on display and also purchased are out of this world. After all the buying we exchange numbers and have been told thatbduring the season we can contact him at any point and request the high quality butterfly koi. Another successful visit complete. Today has been a very good day some excellent koi have been purchased today, and we cant wait to get the koi back now.
January Hand pick Trip is officially under way. Just touched down in Israel. While we sat awaiting to board our plane the breeders have been hard at work early this morning. Before departing we were treated to a select few images of koi they have prepared for us. Its always reassuring to see the breeders showing off there koi before we arrive. Also we got a short video of some new and unusual varieties which are available for us to pick. All this adds to the excitement of our trip. Tomorrow will be the start of our buying. Stay tuned to our blog to find out all our developments and purchases.
Well doesnt seem that long ago writing the blog for January 2018 Koi Hand Pick Trip. After a remarkable year for koi sales we are entering this coming visit to israel with our lowest ever stock rate. Our trip cant come soon enough. Our Expectations !2018 has seen some stunning koi purchased by us across all farms in Israel. Our expectations are of course very high. This year we have added yet more water to our holding facility increasing by another 3500 gallons of water with plans to expand more. With the increased volume of holding water we hope to purchase more koi than ever before. We have seen huge developments in the quality of juvenile koi arriving from Israel this year and intend to embark on a few growing on projects. This will enable us to maintain our high quality in every size through out the year. Demand for koi has been extreemley high in 2018 and as a result has seen us at time run short of certain sizes or varieties. Given our very special relationship with the koi breeders in Israel. We have been in regular contact requesting koi week upon week throughout 2018 and the breeders have always found us what we have been asking for. So what's New..There are as always many new koi projects taking place across the farms. One avenue in particular seems to be the volume of high quality Butterfly Koi. This is excellent news as the demand couldn't be much highly here in the UK. 2019 trip will see us being able to hand select these koi from 5" upwards enabling is to offer the very highest quality in pretty much all sizes. With multiple farms experimenting in the production of Butterfly koi, each farm has something different and unique to offer found only amongst there waters. What else will happen on the trip.Well this years blog will offer the customer more of an insight into the day to day running of the farms and time prevailing we will attempt to take more pictures and videos of the farms themselves. Also speaking to the breeders we will be asking about upcoming koi production. All of this is to give you the customer the understanding of the effort and hard work which goes in to producing your prized procession Many of our customers struggle to appreciate how difficult it may be to produce the perfect koi. Long hours and hard work plays a large part in production. It is not until the koi get to the sorting table that the breeders will know if they have succeeded. At the sorting area is where the magic happens and the breeders use there extended koi knowledge to select the koi they want to continue growing in the hope they make a show winning koi. Anything you require? If its that striking Sanke pattern your looking for or simply a jumbo koi with strong colouration, now is the time to request it. Why not have the VIP experience and ask us to find you your special koi. Once we know what you are looking for we will be able to offer you multiple choices based around your request before they go on sale. There is no obligation to buy if the right fish is not there, however there is a very strong chance it will be . If we can find a match deposit will secure the koi until its ready to be released from our facilities. Get in Touch Now and make your request info@loveaquatics.com or call us if you wish to find out more 01253 932377 Stay tuned in to our blog as from the 25th of January we will be updating our day to day experiences.
2018 has seen a sharp rise in the demand for long finned koi species. Last year we have been able to offer various varieties in an assortment of sizes. For this coming season we have extended our water capacity in our facility to accommodate many more long Finned koi (Butterfly Koi) These fish have been gradually increasing in quality throughout the last couple of years. After lengthy conversations with some of the breeders we are going to be able to select some Butterfly koi which you won't find anywhere else in the UK. On our January hand pick trip we will be selecting some extremely rare and beautiful Long finned koi that may not have been seen before. With so much time and effort being placed into producing these magnificent koi; some new and unusual varieties are already being grown. Here is one we stumbled across last year in January. Kin Ki Showa Sanke. In January 2018 we managed to purchase 6 of these species all as Butterfly koi. The breeder is expecting many more this time round as he has also kept a select few for breeding purposes. What makes a Butterfly Koi so Special ?The main and obvious attraction to butterfly koi is the elongated fins. Displaying much larger fin structure than a regular koi gives these koi huge presence in any koi collection. Looking graceful as these koi cruise about the pond is one of the many attractions . The main attraction for the butterfly koi is the truly remarkably long tail fin. This year there will be a dedicated section just for Butterfly koi on our website. This is due to the sheer popularity of this type of koi this year and also the already demand we have for some varieties. We will be able to offer these from Tosai age (less than 1 year old all the way up to 3 year old fish. NEW NEW NEW !!!!Fish are already being added to the New Category Butterfly koi on the webpage. Currently We have listed some young Tosai. Some stunning koi but limited numbers at the moment so don't miss these beauties! Don't miss out! Head over to the new category Butterfly Koi and treat your self to something special. Now is a great time to get your self a growing project ready for the 2019 pond season.
